For a lot of kids, sitting still is hard work! It can take a lot of brainpower to remain stationary and safe for children with ADHD...or just a lot of energy! I want to focus that brainpower back on the task at hand - becoming excellent readers.
My students are bright, vibrant, and full of energy.
There is a wide range of personalities and abilities in my classroom, but all of my students have at least one thing in common: they deserve the best instruction in the best environment possible. They are committed to learning, and I am committed to doing whatever it takes to help them accomplish that! My students attend a wonderfully warm, welcoming school, but this high-poverty community just doesn't have the resources to update classroom furniture.
My Project
During last school year, donors like yourself gracious provided my students with 5 Kore Wobble chairs. These chairs are used at my guided reading table, where I conduct small-group instruction. Before I got my Wobble chairs, I found that this setting was challenging for students who struggled to sit still. The would rock their chairs dangerously, or would be unable to attend to the lesson. Now, however, wobbly fourth graders are focused on reading! I am asking for two additional chairs because our class size continues to grow. Now, I often have more than 5 students with me at my table, and I want them all to have access to the resources that make them most successful.
These wobble chairs will allow my students to feel comfortable and safe in my classroom.
With enough chairs to accommodate all of my students, no one will feel left out or have to deal with the detriments of a stationary chair that prompted me to replace them to begin with!
