My students need Non-Fiction books for our classroom library. They relish in wanting to know more about the world around them and these books will be fascinating for them to explore.
This school year I'm teaching English Language Arts to an incredible group of 1st and 2nd graders.
I teach at a public K-5 school with a unique structure. My first graders stay with me for two hours then they switch teachers and I get my second graders for two hours. I am blessed to have my students for a second year in a row, this allows me the opportunity to watch them flourish as they continue to discover and learn all about reading. As a result of teaching multiple grades, I need to supply an extensive library to meet the interest and ability levels of all learners. We study all types of genres and Non-Fiction is one of their favorites. Both grades are inquisitive, sweet and eager to learn. I enjoy helping them grow as readers and citizens.
My Project
In my English Language Arts block, we use Reader's Workshop. My students book shop for "just right" books and will use the books provided with your generous donation during Independent Daily Reading. In addition, they will have opportunities to share reading when they Buddy Read. My students will learn tons of factual information about many important people in American History as well as other topics. The book bins will help keep the library organized.
Your generosity will provide my students with a larger classroom library.
Books and reading are a big part of our day and creating a library that is filled with numerous books on a variety of reading levels should enable them to have greater access to high interest books. Thank you for supporting literacy education! "A love of books, of holding a book, turning its pages, looking at its pictures, and living its fascinating stories goes hand-in-hand with a love of learning." Laura Bush
