My Students

Our fifth grade friends have arrived at a balance point between childhood innocence and emerging awareness of the world we live in. While they often put on a show of bravado, they are sensitive and impressionable, just beginning to discover their identity. As teachers, we are enlivening curriculum and revealing stories which challenge our students to develop new capacities in themselves they never knew they had. We are drawing their attention to the world around them by studying plants and people, geography and history, to develop feeling for humanity and our environment so they may move into and through life with a greater sense of self confidence and purpose.

My Project

As we awaken to our personal potential, we look to those who have inspired us to work and to serve to make life better for all. This fifth-grade year's study includes botany, ancient history (India, Persia, Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Greece), U.S. geography, and continued study of our nation's past to include the voices of those whose stories have rarely been told. At this pivotal point in our own story, we look to those who have set an example of what it means to strive. Please help us purchase the biographies we've requested so that as we read, we may strengthen our capacities to lead in our communities and around our globe.
