Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second grade students are an extremely loving, caring, and creative group! They keep each other laughing and consistently impress me with their leadership abilities. About ninety percent of my students are economically disadvantaged, with about seventy percent labeled “at risk of not graduating.” They are resilient, funny, and determined students who share a sense of curiosity and a love for learning. Our school is a cornerstone in our student’s small neighborhood and because of this our students share a strong sense of community.
My Project
The book bins will hold the books that students have selected to read for the week. This will enable each student to keep their books safe and allow for quick and easy access. It is important that they are able to store books because it ensures that students will not spend vital instructional time attempting to pick or locate their books. A big goal for second grade is to increase reading stamina and independence and the book bins will be an essential tool to meet these goals. The paper holders will be used to store activities for student centers. This will promote an organized and functional classroom environment that promotes growth and enthusiasm for learning.
