My students need comfortable seating on our hard tile floors for reading during the Daily 5 reading block.

My Students

Please help our children get off of the cold hard floors during reading. These guys really need to spread out around the room for independent and partner reading but the floor is very inhospitable. These seats will help reading time be as cozy as it is at home on their parent's couches.

My children are from a typical working neighborhood.

We have great community involvement. These kids are so eager to come to school and learn. They love that they are truly "readers" already in Kindergarten. They deserve the very best in their learning.

My Project

These cushions will make reading a much more pleasurable experience for my children. The floor is tile, which is very cold and hard. There is not enough room for all of them on my carpet when they need to spread out and read. The pillows and cushions help their learning be as comfortable as possible so that they can concentrate on reading rather than on their discomfort.

The Daily 5 is a huge way to make reading and working with words into a much more relevant aspect of the children's day.

They are picking their own "good fit" books which interest them and working on strategies that will make them lifetime learners. These seats will make this part of our day the very best part of the day by giving the children the seating they need to spread out around the room.
