My Students
We are a Title I school in Southern California, meaning that 100% of our student population receive free breakfast and lunch. Our community is vibrant and diverse, but the neighborhood is also economically depressed and our campus relies on outside funding sources such as Donors Choose and grants to academically support our students.
Regardless of challenges, our students have quick minds and kind hearts; they are always committed to trying their best.
Many of them come from homes that are struggling socio-economically, and/or homes where English is not the primary language. Most of our students are dependent on school for access to technology, literature, and new experiences. Without exposure to these resources at school, many of my students would go without. Thank you for supporting our enthusiastic classroom community!
My Project
Our library is visited daily by classes ranging from grades Kindergarten to Fifth Grade. The books in our library are well loved and handled excessively. Some books are literally falling apart with loose pages. Our school is in need of new lower level texts that will reach a wide variety of readers.
By supporting this project, you will be giving underserved elementary students access to engaging, academic texts of various reading levels.
These books will give students the opportunity to learn about bees, baby animals, and character building! Our English language learners and students with special needs will have access to fiction at their level. Your contribution also reminds students that our community is valuable, and that their education is important. Thank you for your consideration.
