My students need books to fill our library, to fuel their imaginations, and to open up their minds to improve their literacy skills and expand their reading lives.
Everyday, students are in and out of our classroom library. A sign hangs on our wall reminding students that Ms. Gregory believes our classroom library holds books more precious than gold. They understand the importance of caring for these books, reading them for depth, analysis, and enjoyment.
My students are a part of a strong, diverse school community.
Our school is a culturally and economically diverse public school located in New York. With a wide range of learners and over 60% of students on free or reduced price lunch, it is essential I have the tools and resources to differentiate instruction to meet their needs.
As a third grade gifted teacher, I strive to create an environment where all my students feel confident and driven to succeed. I want them to have all the resources they need in order to do so.
My Project
I have requested books to fill our library, to fuel my students' imaginations, and to open up their minds to improve their literacy skills and expand their reading lives. My students will use these books everyday. They will be loved, worn out, and taken care of. My students will be able to go on adventures through stories without leaving the four walls of our classroom. After all, they understand books are a treasure!
What I want most for my class is to make a remarkable impact on their lives.
Fostering their love for reading, building their reading lives, and providing them with books that will open their imaginations is my job each day.
