My classroom vision for this year is inspired by my own love for English Language Arts. It reads, "We read to understand the world, we write and speak to change it." I want my students to act as positive forces of change in their community and nation, and do so through reading, writing, and speaking.
My school is one where high expectations are held for every student, and where progress and growth are the goal for each classroom.
However, my school is lacking in resources to give my students reading materials that they can use to reach these high literacy goals I have for them. The success of my students is a top priority for myself and my school, but we need some help to give my kids everything they need to reach their full potential.
In such a short period of time, I have seen my students grow into lovers of learning. They have become passionate about the work we are doing in our classroom. They have become critical thinkers, explorers, and questioners. My students have used literature and have taken it to new levels. I hope they can continue to do this throughout the entire school year by engaging with novels that make them ask questions and challenge their everyday thinking.
My Project
My students will use these copies of Fahrenheit 451 to engage with a novel of literary merit and to expand their own thinking. It is so important that students read and write on grade level so they may be successful throughout their academic careers and beyond. By exposing my students to challenging texts that force them to think critically and ask important questions, they become better prepared for college and careers after high school.
By reading about a dystopian society where books are outlawed, I hope my students will realize how lucky they are to live in a world where they are given the chance to interact with literature everyday. I hope reading this novel and many others will help my students appreciate their education and realize the power it gives them. This novel will not only help my students academically, but will also help them develop and grow as people. It will force them to see the opportunities given to them everyday, and will lead them to appreciate their education
This project will make an enormous difference in the lives of my students.
Reading and writing are crucial skills that all students need to be successful. By handing my students a book, I know I am handing them a key to their future. This donation would allow my students to engage in important literature that will help expand their minds and thinking. It will make them ask questions, think critically, and explore a world outside of their own.
