My Students

My students are hard-working, energetic and inquisitive. Most are seniors, and they are about to embark on the next chapter of their lives. Some are going into the military, others are entering four-year colleges/universities. Still others are entering the workforce. Regardless of their future plans, my students spend over 40 minutes a day in my classroom where they chart their own course, so to speak.

Student voice and choice are the cornerstones of my instruction.

From the books they read to the projects they complete, my students take ownership of their education.

My Project

This project is one my students have been asking for! I consistently hear from my students, "I wish we had beanbags to sit in while we read!" Let's grant that wish! Getting high school seniors to read is a huge challenge, but if my students had these chairs, they would be motivated to read!

These bean bag chairs will encourage students to read more often and to read longer!

In order to encourage adolescents to read, we must afford them a comfortable, nonthreatening place to read. Reading is a social activity, so creating a more "social" setting in my room will get more students to read.
