Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Readers are leaders is an important theme in our classroom.
My students are from a low socioeconomic area and most are 2nd language learners.
For most of my students, the only books they enjoy are the ones found in our classroom and school. Unfortunately, our class set of "Charlotte's Web" is in sad shape and need of replacement. Most of the books are torn, taped, or missing pages. While most of my students would rather relax on the floor as they read, they are stuck in desks sharing the few remaining intact books.
My Project
By providing us with these books, you are ensuring that each child can enjoy the story as it unfolds right before their own eyes, not while looking over someone's shoulder or guessing what missing pages might have said. Your generous and much appreciated donation will teach my students that generosity and a willingness to help others can greatly impact a person's life, just as Charlotte's generosity profoundly impacts Wilbur's.
