Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach special education students in grades 1, 2, and 4 who have a variety of learning needs. They are excited about learning but require significant supports to access their general education curriculum. My students rely on visual supports to help them retain the information they read, as reading and comprehension are very difficult for them.

My students are actively engaged in the learning process.

I have built a warm, enriching learning community for my students. We celebrate all the effort they put into their education. I work in an impoverished urban area school. I believe all students deserve the best educational program, regardless of where they grow up.

My Project

My students need access to more books and learning resources. They love to listen to stories, while secretly working on their listening comprehension. These resources will help keep them engaged. I have been purchasing new phonics books and literacy resources to provide more opportunities for my students to learn to read. These resources will provide new, colorful task cards, and fun stories.

Limited resources mean limited opportunities for learning.

I want to provide my students in low income communities, all the things they need to be readers and leaders. Please support my vision!
