When I was in first grade, my teacher was the most caring individual I had ever met. I can vividly remember her kindness and willingness to do whatever it took to create the best environment for her students. Now that I am "in her shoes," I strive to do the same for the students in my class.
My classroom is full of unique, hard-working children who are the future of the world.
Each child in my class brings a different perspective and skill to our group. This is what makes our classroom community so special.
In our classroom, we laugh, play, move around and best of all, work together to learn and grow. I am confident that the students in my class will be the positive change this world needs.
My Project
Our classroom runs on collaboration and discussion. When I have seen two students come back from the library with the exact same book, is amazing and they are so excited to make sure every other student in the class knows they are reading the same book. The reading starts immediately and they laugh and point out certain things in the book together. Being able to read the same book as someone else and discuss what they are reading, engages readers on an extremely high level. The sets of books I am requesting will be used to facilitate discussions and thoroughly engage all students during small group activities and independent work times. With a book in front of each student, they will feel accountability and ownership over what is being read.
I believe that a love of reading happens when children are given the time to read!
My hope in adding these sets of books to my classroom is that all students can participate in book studies that allow them to connect with others and build a love of reading. Students will not have to wait to check out books or have deadlines on when to turn the books back in. They can truly dive into each chapter, fall in love with the characters and get lost in the story lines, all while collaborating with classmates.
