My Students

My classroom is filled with energetic loving three and four year olds who are eager to learn. As teachers we strive to help children to prepare for their bright futures ahead! My students love to read and learn about letters and numbers.

Our mission statement at Head Start is to "support families and prepare children for success in school and in life".

Our school is located in the small village of Holly Michigan and serves the families in our area. Our school provides preschool education to families with low income or 'at risk' children. Children attend Head Start to reduce or eliminate the educational barrier that could interfere with the educational achievements in kindergarten and beyond. We strive to support, love and encourage both our families and children.

My Project

These books and literacy materials will help to create a print rich classroom to help children learn about letters, stories and writing. With whiteboards children will be able to explore writing in a whole new way. The felt board stories encourages imagination and allows children to be hands on with the story. Early literacy allows for more opportunities to build vocabulary and support cognitive development. These materials are going to allow us to support awareness of the sounds of language, awareness to print and the relationship developed by between letters and sound. We hope to build phonological awareness within our students so they can be successful in the future.
