I teach in a highly diverse, Title I school. The diversity in our school is what makes it so great, and I truly believe that the love of reading needs to be fostered each day. I love giving my students a variety of reading materials to choose from. When children enjoy what they are reading, they will grow.
Since most of my students come from low-income households, many of them do not have reading materials at home.
The only time I am able to provide this for them is at school. It is up to me to give them many options for reading materials.
My Project
My classroom library is over 10 years old and in need of an update! Most of my books are old and torn. I would love to purchase new books for my classroom. I want this to be a great space for my students to be able to choose books they love and read them in a comfortable setting. With new book bins, a variety of book genres to choose from, and a comfortable carpet area to sit, my students will be able to enjoy reading in the classroom.
They can choose books that will interest them, which will help them grow in their reading skills.
