My Students

My students come from various backgrounds including students who are low socio-economic, military, low performing, and receive free & reduced lunch. Many of our students don't have the resources to purchase books and school supplies.

Students in our classroom learn through collaboration, exploration, questioning, interacting, investigation, and most importantly our imaginations!

Our school is compromised of students who speak over 26 different languages! It is a neighborhood school, and most of the students walk to school. Our school is dedicated to helping the families in our school community.

My Project

In our class, we learn through collaborative conversations, exploration and most importantly our imaginations! My goal is to create a community of learners that are passionate about reading! It is especially important to have books in a classroom that peak students' interest. In this project, I chose Elephant & Piggie books by Mo Willems, because they are developmentally appropriate for kindergartners, and the students love them! Students will use Elephant & Piggie books to describe story elements, compare and contrast characters and learn about comparisons across similar texts.

We need classroom books to help us build our imaginations!
