This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students in my class come from a variety of economic backgrounds. Over 86% of our school receives free or reduced-price lunch. As a Leader-In-Me school, we strive to inspire leaders. My students want to learn so they can be the best citizens they can be.
When provided with the essential tools needed for learning, my class will become great leaders for our world.
My students come to school eager to learn and as a teacher I would like to have all the essential tools to teach them.
My Project
Students will be able to use these books in small groups in order to have guided reading practice. Students will read with their peers while having their own book to look at. During small group, I want my students to be actively engaged in reading by having their own individual book instead of sharing with two or three people.
Students will learn to love reading when they are able to have their own supplies for reading.
I strongly believe a love for reading comes from having access to reading materials. If my students are able to get these supplies, they will learn to become fluent readers. Not only will they be more fluent, they may develop a lifelong love for reading.
