In my classroom, kindergarten students are energetic! Most are confident, are eager to be involved, and want to and can accept a great deal of responsibility. Their combination of a "can do" attitude and their cooperation and responsibility make them a delight to teach and work with.
My kindergartners have a tremendous capacity to be able to learn words and they like the challenge of learning new words!
Our school is located in a small city in Ventura County, in the Santa Clara River Valley. We are surrounded by an agricultural and tree- farming belt with rich fertile soil. As a SEAL classroom, I stress academic language, vocabulary, talking, and role-playing among students. I am so fortunate to have a group of learners each school year who are excited about learning!
Lending libraries serve as a place for parents, grandparents, or any caring adult to borrow books to read at home with their child and extend the learning beyond the kindergarten school day.
Reading regularly can support the development of early literacy skills.
I want to make it convenient for my parents to read books daily with their child. Having a lending library and providing the "book totes" will help my students learn the basics of borrowing books and returning them to prepare them for the time when they are eligible for a library card.
In addition, they will improve their vocabulary, reasoning, concentration, empathy, social perception, and emotional intelligence. In a few words, reading is a learning jackpot. It will be very exciting to see so many families having access to books on a daily basis!
