Help me give my students 24 Storex Large Book Bins to store their literacy materials and 48 Paper Mate Flair Felt Tip Pens to help them publish their stories.
A huge part of our day is spent working on reading and writing tasks. Students are so excited about learning new ways to connect with their books, investigating words, and writing brilliant stories with rich detail and descriptive information. I want students to fall in love with reading and writing by immersing themselves with books and tools to ignite their creativity!
We have an incredible group of students in our classroom this year.
The students in my classroom are from economically and culturally diverse backgrounds. Our diversity has given us an amazing opportunity to grow and learn about other cultures. Eight languages: Spanish, Gujarati, Farsi, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and French are represented in our classroom, respected by all of our students, and incorporated daily in our routines and learning. The students now greet each other in different languages and enjoy learning more from each other every day! Our students have a strong love for learning, creating, and exploring new ways to solve problems. They were very proud when I told them I was working on a way to solve our literacy tub problem.
My Project
The cardboard magazine file boxes students currently use as a toolbox are overflowing with materials and books!
With this project, each student will be assigned a sturdy storage bin to hold their various reading and writing workbooks, word study sorts, writing journal, leveled books, small group book, and other necessary tools for success.
Students will be able to add additional tools for their tubs such as sand timers for brain breaks or additional reading and writing tools to help them be successful.
The students will have all the tools that they need to be successful and take ownership of their learning, which will allow me to place my entire focus on teaching small reading groups. Students will be able to interact with each other in authentic ways as they explore and share books, words and writing ideas.
