This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
SSIS is the only Title I tuition-free K-5 public charter school in Sarasota, Florida, where 89% of our students are living at or below the poverty line. Our students are charismatic, bright, and determined thinkers who enjoy hands-on opportunities to learn, build relationships, set goals, and work hard to reach them.
Our students' special needs and interests are the focus of our curriculum and daily interactions.
SSIS students not only work on academic excellence but also focus on core values on and off-campus. We encourage them to be themselves, as we focus on supporting every student, every family, every day. The staff and faculty hold these values true as we strive to make a difference in ourselves, our families, our communities, and the world!
My Project
Our students face really caught the reading bug. One of the bewest rewards is Free book for student libraries. Toon graphics are a great way to encourage students to explore literature.
Thesee TOON Graphics feature diverse characters that span high-interest subjects including Latin American Folktales, Hawaiian Folktales, Fairy Tales, Historical Non-Fiction, Transportation, Greek Mythology, Adventure and Fantasy.
Each of these books will go home with students to be read by a student, to a student, or for a student to share with someone else. Our readers are excited to be leaders!
