My Students
My students are culturally diverse. Their diversity is their commonality, however. My students don't focus on their differences. They accept each other as they are. This is what makes them special in my eyes
My students are curious. They seek to explore the unknown and they prefer to do that in a hands-on manner. A majority of my students don't get the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities that support or enhance their education. School is often their only connection to a brighter future.
My Project
My students have been so inundated with technology in the library that we have strayed too far from literature. I want to reignite their passions for good stories. We're not ditching technology, but we're going to use it to advise each other about great books.
We are going to use student-created bookmarks and book trailers to promote reading in our school! Oftentimes my students will ask me for a "good book." How fun would it be for them to have a creative way to tell each other about good books? The colored paper will be used to print "book review" bookmarks that the students write and the tent cards will be used to print the QR codes of the book trailers that the students create. Finally, the tickets and book rings will be used to encourage the students to explore different genres of literature. My goal is for my students to help each other rediscover the joy of reading and in some instances create a joy of reading.
