Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is in the City of Trenton, most of my students come from low income homes. My students are eager kindergarteners, who came to school with the desire of learn. They are bilingual students that are self -motivated to be successful. My kiddos get very excited when they explore new materials which they get to interact with. Unfortunately we do not always have access to all the materials and tools that we need.
They are willing to learn and face challenges, and they are always grateful for what they have.
The one thing my students are missing are appropriate materials to ensure a successful year in writing, reading, and creating. I believe that all my students love school and have the ability to be successful with the collaboration of teachers, parents, and community. I know that they are capable of achieving far more than what is expected of them.
My Project
My students need an easel for whole and small group instruction, morning meeting, and to promote writing and reading. Also they need crayons to be creative with their drawings and writing, and to help them see a print-rich classroom.Kindergarten is such an amazing grade of mixed emotions,goals and energy. Some of my students are learning the names and sounds of letters, counting and have started writing in invented spelling. Others are learning how to write their name and how to grip a pencil.
Having a good writing easel , crayons and a radio will have a great impact for their success in reading,writing, listening and their creativity .
