My students need a Experiment of the Week Science Lab and Language Instant Learning Centers to strengthen science and literacy skills.

My students always see the best in every situation and are my biggest motivators. Everyday they come into the classroom ready to listen and excited to learn. They face challenges many of us could never imagine, but you wouldn't be able to tell by their happy go lucky attitudes. I pride myself in being able to create a safe and welcoming environment for them. My new focus is to give them the education they deserve.
The great majority of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes.
Outside of my classroom, they are not used to getting quality things, but they always graciously accept what they have. Although they accept what can not currently be changed in their home lives, I believe it is my job to make sure they have the very best at school.
Elementary students are more excited about science than anything else. They constantly ask, "When are we going to do science?" While I teach science daily, it's not always the exciting experience they are hoping for.
Unfortunately, science has always taken the back burner to reading and writing.
The majority of our day is designated to learning literacy skills, and even then, the allotted time is not enough to overcome students reading and writing obstacles. We are usually left with only 30 minutes or less for science. For the upcoming school year, I want to give students the experiences they crave.
The Experiment of the Week Science Lab will allow me to quickly set up an experiment every Friday aligned to what we are learning in class. The Language Instant Learning Centers will allow my students who come in with very few language skills to work on things like alphabet and simple sentences. Things that they can learn independently with the centers, leaving more time for science.
In closing, I would like to thank everyone who has supported me and my students. It is an incredible feeling that motivates me to keep doing what I love.
