My Students

I teach a class of 22 amazing kindergartners who are eager to learn and deserve endless resources, experiences, and opportunities. They come from different backgrounds, have a wealth of experiences, and have a lot to contribute to our diverse learning community. They are eager for knowledge and engaging opportunities to learn.

Unfortunately, our school has been closed for 6 weeks and will not reopen this year.

The students, parents, and I are working hard to make distance learning work for them. I am utilizing interactive and educational websites, video conferencing, live read-alouds, and finding new ways to teach reading, writing, science, social studies, math, art, and so much more! It's a new world of teaching that is teaching us a lot but we miss each other tremendously!

The district has provided families with Chrome books and Wi-fi access and daily lunch is also provided. I am looking to reach my kids in more ways so that they can have the resources needed to succeed! I am hoping the DonorsChoose community can help me reach out to my students to fulfill their academic needs during this unexpected and difficult time.

My Project

My students absolutely love Pete the Cat books. The children love borrowing these books from the library, but libraries are closed now and so is school. Pete the cat books are fun stories about a cool blue cat that the kids love and think is real through such relatable stories!

I would be thrilled to be able to provide my students with motivating books with a cool character like Pete.

I would also like to provide them with rebus readers so they can build on their reading skills and their vocabulary with words represented by pictures.

The Pete the Cat books, as well as the rebus readers are excellent choices for my 5- and 6-year old students!

Books are not only knowledge but they can also take the children to a world of imagination and adventure! Please help bring Pete the Cat to life to my amazing kindergartener readers!
