Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I would like to provide an opportunity for the students and their families to be able to read together. Reading together will make the students better readers as well as provide parents with the ability to support their students' reading progress.

We are a low income school.

We are Title One and serve 100% free breakfast and lunch. Many of families wish to have resources to work with their students at home but the expense is out of their reach. As well as a large poverty population we also serve several special education programs.

My Project

These requested books will be available for parents to check out and take home to work with their students. I intend to put together information packets that they can use when reading with their child at home that go with the books. These books provide an opportunity for students to read with their family at an appropriate level. As well the books provide more in depth information that is read by the parent to increase the student's knowledge base.

Donations to this project will allow us to purchase these books and begin the process of setting up resources that are available to our families.

To improve the quality of reading the skills taught at school need to be practiced at home. Hopefully providing this library will give the parents the help they need to get started.
