Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our scholars are inquisitive, curious, hard working, diligent, kind, giving, and all around great kids. I am new to this school and since I have been interacting with the students, I see the love of learning and the desire to excel.
My students need the opportunity to grow as readers and excel in a speaking and summarizing in a digital format such as Vlogs.
One afternoon, in preparation for a UIL competition, the students were struggling with number sense. I was reviewing multiplying by 11. Instead of my third, fourth, and fifth graders giving up because they were struggling, they asked me to explain it again and give them more practice. That is the type of students that work for a goal and strive to attain it.
My Project
I am asking for twenty-five books including El Árbol Generoso (The Giving Tree) and Stellaluna. The students from all ages will read or be read to the high interest books I have chosen for this project. Then, they will create a VLOG (a summation of the book in video form). A tablet will be used for students to view the VLOG to determine if it is a book they would want to read.
Students will utilize a school tablet and the books to analyze critically the books they are reading, therefore the students understand the fusion of learning from books and presenting in a digital format.
This process creates students that are ready to speak in front of people, to use increase their vocabulary to present their needs
