This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The effects of Covid are still being felt in my fourth grade classroom. My students were first graders who missed the opportunity to build a strong foundation in phonics and a love of reading. My amazing students want to succeed and just need a little helping hand.

In order to support my students, I am requesting decodable texts and manipulatives to support my students in small groups.

Decodable texts play an important role in phonics instruction and build confidence in young readers.

Fourth graders still desperately need a strong phonics understanding to help them access upper grade material.
