My classroom is one of three third grade classrooms in a close knit, socio-economically diverse K-5 school. Over one third of our school students receive free and reduced lunch.
I strive to provide a nurturing environment with enriching experiences so that each and every student can reach their academic, social, and emotional potential.
My students have diverse reading abilities, from very low readers to advanced readers in the same class. My goal is to provide reading materials for kids of all abilities, so they can grow into responsible, productive members of our community.
My students need new classroom library books from a variety of levels and genres to improve literacy. These books will allow students to read both fiction and nonfiction. I plan to fill the library with fun and engaging books to encourage a lifelong love of reading. The nonfiction books will serve the useful purpose of allowing the students to learn from, and about, the past. The books will be categorized by reading level in bins. Each week, students will be able to easily identify “just right” books for their personal book bins.
As students become more proficient in reading, their confidence and language skills will increase!
Every student deserves the chance to read books that are “just right” for them! Thank you for supporting my amazing third graders in literacy learning.
