Have you ever felt defeated? George E Woodbury said “Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure.” Most of our families choose our school, so their children can experience success and opportunities they haven't had before.
My school is a 4 year old inner city charter school where 100% of the students qualify for free and reduced lunch.
Students at our school have very little resources and live at or below the poverty line. Our school has provided a safe place for the students to grow and learn. We service students all over the Metropolitan Indianapolis area. Most of our students are 1-2 grade levels behind in both reading and math. We provide a rigorous and arts-infused education that has provided outstanding results.
My Project
Students at our school have very little resources and access to any books. Our school has very few resources and no library. Students deserve the opportunity to have independent hands-on learning, but we do not have the resources to provide that experience. Having these materials donated to my classroom will allow my students to have an opportunity to truly have hands on learning. Our students need to grow 1-2 grade levels in a school year in order to catch up, and these materials will help the students attain that goal.
Our students have grown up believing that they don't deserve the best.
When my students enter my classroom I want them to have all of the materials and opportunities that they deserve. With the drop-out rate being so high in our area, I want to motivate my students, and help them to become life-long learners. These materials will help them to build their confidence and build a solid foundation. The skills they learn using these materials will help them in the future!
