This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are incredible little minds who love to absorb the world around them. Especially in the classroom, 3 and 4-year-old, the children want to see a nice library center filled with wonderful children's books with pictures of what we are studying in the classroom.
Kids are open and honest individuals who are exploring this world with freshness and longing to learn more about literacy.
A child’s spontaneity and energy often keeps me on my toes and provides countless hours of laughter. This, in turn, allows me to look at the world a little differently and many times in a more positive light.
My Project
This project will provide a variety of "TIME FOR KIDS Nonfiction Reader" educational books in our preschool library corner to promote early literacy skills. Also, the "Around the World Book" set will provide insight to how other people live around the world in various countries. "TIME FOR KIDS Nonfiction Readers" and the "Around the World Book" sets will promote our preschool library corner with helping the children learn about social studies skills. Children will learn the names of the letters and the sounds that each letter represents when reading books. I would love to fill our preschool library corner with enriched books and a nice "Cutie Bugs Carpet" to sit down and relax while reading their literacy books. Literacy has many relevant tools to teach preschoolers how to handle books and to point out letters, words and other features of the book. When children enter kindergarten they should know concepts related to books such as how to hold and turn the pages of a book and that the pictures are related to the story. They should know some nursery rhymes which are found in preschool books. Preschoolers entering kindergarten should also have the ability to identify letters visually. Exposure to books in a preschool library corner enhances these skills.
