This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 3rd-5th grade students love to learn. These students need extra help learning to read and are so happy to be pulled into their small groups where they can be successful with their learning. One thing that have become comfortable doing is helping one another. It is so rewarding to watch one student help another sound out a word, figure out the meaning of a word or understand a short story they have read.

Many of these students come from homes where English in not spoken regularly so they may not have anyone at home to help them and yet they continue to strive to learn.

Watching these student have success with their learning is the best of the day. They love to work together on projects big and small.

My Project

The students love to use computers. By incorporating Chromebooks in their reading class, they will be able to work on improving their reading comprehension. Students will be able to work independently and in small groups. Having access to these computers in the classroom will allow even more students to work on their reading using programs such as Raz Kids. With multiple computers in the class the students will be able to work daily on the program.

The students using these computers are all at-risk students and through the use of various computer programs will be able to move closer to grade level.

These students will be able to gain confidence and feel successful in their learning.
