Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hungry, but their hunger is not for food, it's for knowledge of the English Language. Our goal, as teachers, is to help our students understand and apply English while reaching higher order thinking. My students are English Language learners and they are eager to learn English.
My students are ESL students and they are very passionate about learning the English Language.
My students like to read, break and create, ask questions about topics and words they do not understand in order for them to know when to apply vocabulary. Our main goal is to help our students learn how to listen, translate and apply knowledge between languages in a timely manner. This is a hard task to teach, but their enthusiasm makes teaching this skill worth it.
My Project
The buddy bags I requested will help students gain love for reading. They will be able to learn responsibility and structure, while traveling to worlds where only books can take them when they read. Students will be able to take a daily book from our classroom library home to read with their family. The read, built and write materials will help students learn and make connections which will help them increase their English Language acquisition. The reusable write and wipe pockets will allow students to practice and master skills necessary for them to be successful at the next level.
Donations to this project will help my ESL students gain English Language vocabulary and understanding.
Also, as a teacher, it is important to have different ways of engaging students based on their learning style. Having different ways of delivering knowledge will help engage all students in my classroom.
