My Students

My students are all from an urban public school system in Massachusetts. They attend a small neighborhood school that is constantly expanding. The school community is where all students will succeed no matter what their background is. My students like to learn in a variety of ways seeing as centers are a major part of our culture. My students are just beginning to read and learn more than just their numbers in math. The potential in these students is great with sufficient resources.

My Project

These materials will help students better choose their books. The books will be easier to access is larger storage bins. Including new titles will help them find something they are more willing to read. In these new storage bins, they will be able to pull the bin out and be able to look quickly at the pictures on the book to see if they will be engaged while reading. Also the books will last longer since they are less likely to be squished into a smaller container.

The nonfiction text books will go along with units that we have in both science and math, which will help them enjoy what they are learning about.
