Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enthusiastic third grade learners. Most are 8 or 9 years old. They want to learn as much as possible and soak up every opportunity to do so. My students are kind and respectful kids. They are a diverse group with varying strengths and needs. Many do not have appropriate leveled reading materials at home. Most of my students are nearing grade level expectations or at grade level. It is important to keep them engaged and progressing forward!
My Project
These magazines will give all my students access to reading materials they might not otherwise have. The magazines in this project offer a wide range of topics for students to explore. For example, the Scholastic News magazine will highlight current events. The Science Magazine will give students opportunities to read about important and exciting science concepts. The Geography Spin magazine will give students exposure to topics, happenings, and geography around the World. We do not have Social Studies nor Science texts for students to read regularly. These materials will give students consistent exposure to important concepts. The materials can also be used at home for nightly reading homework along with sharing with siblings.
