Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a wonderful group of 3rd graders on the west side of Indianapolis. My classroom is rich with diverse learners. My students are energetic, kind, and resilient. Despite challenging home lives, my students come to school eager to learn every day.

All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of our students' parents work odd hours to provide for their children. However, no matter what is going on at home, they always do their best when they come to school.

My Project

My students love to learn and are very hard workers. However, half of my class is two or more grade levels below where they should be by this time in third grade. I need these engaging language materials to help close the gap for my students. With these materials, they will feel success and want to grow their brains even more! My students will use the board games and language matching materials during our intervention time. Board games and brightly colored matching materials are more engaging than traditional worksheets and will help students be the best readers they can be!
