My Students

Welcome to the second grade classroom where you can hear a pin drop during independent reading time. The second graders would welcome a variety of books to choose from during read to self, read to someone and listen to reading time. Would you please help us get more books?

We are a very rural, isolated community in northern Minnesota.

Our students come from very hard working families that don't have extra funds to purchase books. That's where the second grade classroom becomes their resource. The teachers spend a lot of their own money on books and would now like some help to enhance reading. Donating will help all of us who enjoy reading.

My Project

The 3 book sets I am requesting will be used daily by students. They will have them available during their 20 minutes of read to self, read to someone and listen to reading time. They will also be given the opportunity to check the books out to read at home and then log their minutes read.

Reading opens the world for students.

Second grade is an important time to grab student interest with a variety of books. As everyone knows, school funding is always being cut. I currently have a yearly budget of $400 to buy things for my classroom and there is never enough to buy new books. That is why I am reaching out to other sources so these children can benefit from rich literature and be life long readers. Open the door to adventure!!
