As a middle school English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher in Montana, I truly enjoy learning about each of my students. Each student brings unique experiences and attributes to the classroom, which makes each day different. With a variety of backgrounds and interests, it is essential to have a diverse classroom library.
My eager, curious students cultivate an exciting, engaging classroom environment.
They read, create, collaborate, and share as they challenge themselves to learn and grow. Because of them, I continuously strive to build relationships, improve my instruction, and gather the necessary materials to best meet their learning needs and interests.
My Project
Many of my students are devouring books this year. I am passionate about creating a classroom library full of books my students like. We have completed our first trimester of school, and I am getting to know my students' interests, preferences, and goals.
Because I know more about who my students are, many of these books will be the perfect fit for several of my readers.
I also hope some of these books will help capture the attention of reluctant readers in my classroom. Independent reading is an important part of my classroom. Students set their own independent reading goals, self-select books, and read each day.
