This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is located in the metro-Atlanta area. My scholars are awesome!! I love them so much and I'm always sad to see them go, but happy to see their progress, and excited to get new students. My students are in Kindergarten. They are active, hard working, investigative, and dedicated.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch at school.
All of the students come from low income households and don't have the tools for them to be successful at home and school. They all love coming to school everyday. They greet me with a hug, fist bump, or high five every morning. Our school focuses on rigorously teaching to the 21st century learner. A majority of the students have trouble reading, but they love to use technology and technology allows the students to enhance their learning.
My Project
My scholars will use these awesome reading materials to help foster a love for reading. My students deserve to have the same access to useful resources as their peers in other areas. These materials will give them the extra support and practice that they need in specific reading skill areas.
I believe every child can learn and grow given the right materials.
I know that my scholars will definitely appreciate the opportunity to have a set of complete materials, with books in our listening center. Having these materials would give the students the opportunity to enhance their abilities as well as catch up on skills that they are deficit in.
