Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is affected by the coronavirus pandemic because we do not have the ability to see each other on a daily basis. The social distancing creates a barrier that prevents us from the closeness that we so often need and want. It provides a disadvantage, due to the lack of resources.
My students are learning from their homes.
They are interacting with me on a weekly basis, via the Zoom website. I sent them Distance Learning Assignments for the week every Monday. We discuss them over the phone and in the Zoom meetings.
The resources they have available are lap tops that the school distributed. Only one per family. They have the basics, pencil and paper. They have resources that I have submitted through Class Dojo and the use of educational websites, such as, Brainpop Jr., myOn Books, and the iReady program that are school uses.
My Project
These materials will help my students learn from home because some student's parents are unavailable. The audio books can be used by placing them in CD players.
These audio books will help the reader with fluency, listening to another person read the stories aloud.
Also, it helps improve reading because the students see the words and how they are read. Also, helps the students with expression to hear someone read with expression.
Finally, it gives them access to a library of their own. They are unable to go to their public library, due to the closure of libraries in their neighborhoods.
