Help me give my students in my school a wide variety of books to help expand their knowledge of the world around them and to "venture" into places they have never been before.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Meeting the needs of our students is expected at my elementary school located in a rural part of Florence, SC. As a community, we come together to give students the quality education that they deserve.
Each day, our students come to school ready to learn.
They take pride in their work and strive to do their best. Their joy for reading across genres shines through as they participate in daily selective reading. Challenging themselves as readers is always a constant thought and expectation.
My Project
Having multiple sets of leveled texts will help the teachers at my school as they plan for and interact with students during their guided reading groups. With the books provided through this grant, students will have access to fictional stories, nonfiction texts and biographies in which they can make connections, learn from and explore. Teachers will be able to use these resources to differentiate reading instruction while providing students with materials that they, the students, are interested in. The books will be housed in a central location with easy access for all teachers. Donating to this project will further motivate the students to read and learn!!
