Help me give my students the opportunity to become confident readers. We can achieve this goal by improving their fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills using this research-based intervention program.
I am a passionate young teacher at a public school in central North Carolina who will teach the most amazing fifth grade students. I am transitioning from third grade to fifth grade this year. In this transition, I will have the opportunity to serve all fifth grade students in English Language Arts. However, fifth grade class sizes are larger and will need additional resources for all students to have the opportunity to excel.
Our school is a special safe haven for our students, that fosters innovation, creativity, and diverse learners.
My classroom features learners with different backgrounds and cultures. These children are loving, compassionate, and eager to learn. My eyes are opened daily to the love that my students have for education. Our world is becoming more and more digital and we need to provide our children with the opportunity to engage in this advancement. In order to be the 21st century learners that we are expected to be, we need to have materials that allow us to do so.
My Project
So many students that I teacher everyday have gaps in their reading capabilities. Many lack the advanced vocabulary necessary to access many grade level texts. Some lack to basic phonics skills to read the words within the text. And some students need to work on reading text fluently.
This researched based intervention program will allow my fifth grade students to improve their phonics skills, fluency, expand their vocabulary, and develop their comprehension.
Students need opportunities to grow more confident in their reading abilities. The texts that will be used within this program are rigorous for students and allow them to practice all of these skills.
