My Students

"Reading gives children a chance to explore new worlds and ideas."

My students are bright and capable, and they have an excitement for learning!

They LOVE to read and cheer when it is time for independent reading time, or when I pull out a book to read to them in the morning. They love to explore math and science concepts, and come up with new ideas.

In the midst of recovering from the pandemic students need the emotional and social support picture books can offer. They can examine social problems and explore solutions in a safe space. They also need hands-on experience with math and science materials to grasp the concepts they have missed out on the last few years.

My Project

Each day independent reading time is the highlight of my classes day! My goal is to give them a variety of books to choose from that are high interest, and help them grow as readers. During the COVID-19 pandemic students have had limited access to books. It is essential to teach students reading is fun and important, high interest books, and bins to organize the books will help me achieve this goal.

In addition to high interest books, please help me give my students opportunities to learn how to code using the Dash-and-Dot coding cards.

Students work really hard for time to play with the Dash-and-dot robot. Coding cards will help me give them educational tasks that enrich their education.

Finally, please help me give my students adapters to listen to audio books. Some students learn best by listening to books being read. The pandemic has limited these learners. I would like to be able to use my classroom iPad to support these students in their need to listen to books being read aloud.
