My students are embarking on a journey to become lifelong learners. They come from from diverse cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic classes. Each day the children arrive ready to learn and to share their ideas. My classroom provides a sanctuary for them -- a place where they know they will be loved and their curiosity to learn will be cultivated.

My Project
My first graders love to read and learn. They are incredibly curious little beings. While they enjoy a good story, they really love to learn about the world around them. We are requesting interesting nonfiction books to read that will help them to grow and learn. These quality non-fiction books will allow my students to learn about a variety of topics that interest them including animals, space, how things work and machines! These books are designed for beginning readers and contain information and language at their reading level.
The best part is that they are full of amazing photographs!
For many of my students the photographs will convey as much meaning as the text! A picture is worth a thousand words.
