My Students

My second grade Reading classroom is like many others with the exception of a leveled library.

I work at a low income school with very little resources.

My students parents don't have the money to purchase books for the students to have at home and many of them have never even been to a library. Some have never even been read too. Some of my students are trying hard to be good readers but lack the resources (variety of books on their level). Some have not been exposed to books so they are just beginning to read. Even with all of these obstacles these students are eager to learn and are only limited by their imagination. The imagination sparked by books.

My Project

My students need access to lots of books to be successful readers. They will use these books every minute of our day! They will use the leveled books in independent reading so they can read books on their own reading level. They will use the books during center time, completing an activity during and/or after reading. They will use the books during Guided Reading in small groups with the teacher.

Imagine never experiencing the love of reading.

By making this donation that can change for approximately 40 second graders! Reading is a fundamental skill that once mastered can take these disadvantaged children to places they never imagined! This donation will provide the opportunity for a child to further their education and experience the joy of reading.
