Our school is a neighborhood school serving approximately 900 students. Our students are from diverse backgrounds and speak a variety of languages. Our students are motivated to learn and look forward to coming to school every day. We also have a very experienced and loyal staff who care for our students and create a nurturing environment conducive to learning.
We are excited about the growth our students have made over the past seven years in reading since implementing Reader's and Writer's Workshop.
We want to continue to maximize their learning and need a few supplies to help do this.
My Project
I am asking for post it notes of various sizes for my students and materials to create anchor charts for them during reading and writing workshop so that they can refer back to them as they are reading independently.
Students will use the materials to help them track their thinking while reading, stopping and jotting down bits of the text to share with their reading partners later is a great way to build classroom community as well as readers.
These materials will help students record their thoughts about reading in a fun and colorful way. They will also serve as great guides for academic conversations and talking points during conferences.
