I have an energetic and creative group of 3rd graders in my classroom. We are located in rural northwest Iowa in the heart of farming country. There are only 1-2 school districts per county. I love their desire to learn, and most importantly their eagerness to learn. The varied academic levels require varied teaching resources. Connecting them to a world of diversity through literature is a key factor in our classroom. We love learning every single day and I love to connect them to experiences through text!
My Project
Third grade is a huge curriculum change for kids. We move from learning to read into reading to learn. Help my classroom and my students get their hands on a variety of non-fiction materials that relate to the diverse world we live in.
When kids are able to put independent reading titles in their hands and use topics that are interesting and intriguing, they will dive into their reading with fluency, accuracy, and understanding.
Help me expand my classroom library to include a variety of genres related to non-fiction that allow students to explore, be curious, and generate knowledge of our world!
