Read It! Love It! Teach It!
Help me give my students age appropriate literature, including Wish Tree, which will also help teach acceptance of others and tolerance of differences.
My 4th grade students are eager and walk in the door "ready to learn.” They are curious, clever learners who come from diverse households. My school serves a high percentage of children who receive free or reduced lunch and live in low income housing. Many of my students receive "blessings in a bag,” so that they can have food over the weekend.
Many of my students don't have access to rich literature or even access to age appropriate books.
I want my students to develop a LOVE for reading in and out of the classroom. I want my students to have the opportunity to read novels together so that they can learn and grow as unique individuals through literature.
The materials for this project will be put to good use everyday. I want to engage my students in meaningful literature each day through a daily read aloud using these award winning novels. Through the use of this authentic and meaningful literature my students will learn acceptance of others and tolerance of differences.
The donations for this project will help to foster a love of reading in all of my students.
These books will help improve their reading ability using grade appropriate books, increase their vocabulary and listening skills, as well as teach expression when reading. Engaging my students in interesting literature will peek their interest in books and they will continue to grow as strong readers.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
