This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My students need non-fiction literature, Scholastic News, that is student friendly, relates to academic themes, and uses graphic organizers and other activities to measure learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are special because of their diversity. They come from various backgrounds, cultures, family makeup, and academic levels. My classroom has a family community structure where we all help each other to learn. We all praise student success, encourage persistence, and show compassion for those who may need more time and opportunity to gain success.
I like to present several ways of presenting information to students because students do not learn everything in just one way or format.
Having various learning formats only increases the impact of learning for my students. This is my optimal goal...to use the best practices to help my students learn. I want to bring what they need to learn to LIVE...make it RELEVANT and a LASTING part of their academic journey.
When I do this, I know that I have done my job well!
First graders come to school excited about learning. They are ready and open to learn everything about everything. As their teacher, my job is to help them learn what they need to learn about the world and what's in and around it. They need to know that the world is bigger than the city they live and learn in. They need to see the world is comprised of people, places, and things that are living and non-living. They need to learn that the world includes their backyard...and the six other continents.
Scholastic News will help to support the print-rich classroom that I strive to provide.
Having their own copy to read and reread will help build necessary reading skills that are essential to proper academic development.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student reading skills and knowledge base, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Student will be able to make connections with prior knowledge, be exposed to new information, and acquire a voice to share their points of interest, like or dislike and view on what ever the weekly topic is.
