My Students

Our school is located in a small community. I am new to teaching 2nd grade. I have been teaching kindergarten for 12 years and now I am building my 2nd grade classroom. I have taught some of these students previously. Our school has a strong focus on literacy and word study. I would like for the class to have a leveled library and a comfortable spot for silent reading. Some of the students are also active and I would like to offer flexibility in seating in the classroom.

My Project

My students need access to books that are on their reading level. I would like to have a classroom library available to my students so that they can find books to read when they complete work or to take home. Also, they need to choose these books to read as part of their daily reading. I also want students to feel at home in the classroom. Flexible seating will allow students to move around without disrupting the class. These materials will enrich all learners at all levels. As the students differentiate in their reading groups they will be able to use the books and the seats as necessary! The whole class benefits!
