My students from Johnsonville are hardworking and eager to learn Spanish. They come into the classroom knowing they will have high expectations to reach daily; therefore, they give their best. Each day my students are actively learning how to speak, write, and read Spanish. They practice speaking basic Spanish on a daily basis. My students write short paragraphs in Spanish weekly, and we read culture lessons every chapter in Spanish as well. To engage my students more in their reading Spanish, I am choosing more entertaining books that can pique the interest of my students. In reading more in Spanish, it will increase the vocabulary of my students. Increasing their vocabulary in Spanish has many benefits from preparing them more for a Spanish college classroom setting to boosting their confidence in speaking Spanish inside and outside the classroom while still in high school. Reading a book in any language is fun for everyone.
My Project
Reading in any language can increase vocabulary skills. Reading in a foreign language will build a student's confidence; consequently, it will increase his or her confidence in speaking and in writing in that foreign language. We read texts in Spanish weekly; however, it does not always interest the students. By helping fund this project, every student will have a book that interest him or her by having options of short stories for the student to read.
By donating to help fund this project for my classroom will give many students for years to come the opportunity to read short stories in Spanish.
The books chosen range from Spanish 1 to 4. As students advance in their learning the language, they will have the next level short story to read as well. My students will enjoy the new short stories to read.
