School is an exciting place for my students! They are constantly finding new ways to challenge themselves and grow their brains. By trying new strategies, taking on challenges, and learning from their mistakes, we have learned that true learning comes from hard work.
Whether it's reading a new, engaging book or a math concept that makes them stop and think, my third graders are learning throughout their whole day at school.
However, there are always ways to reach more students and keep them focused throughout the entire day.
That's where we need your help!
My Project
My students love to read! Unfortunately, many of them are still behind grade level. Reading fluency - the speed and accuracy of reading - is essential to reading. The first step in reading comprehension is being able to read the page!
These materials will help my students read quickly and accurately - two essential keys to their success.
The building fluency card bank allows students to work with a partner to test their reading speed. This would help students motivate themselves and their peers and help them take ownership of their learning.
The Daily Language journals help students notice the differences in language and vocabulary between second and third grade. Things like prefixes and suffixes have to be explicitly taught and reviewed consistently throughout the year in order for students to apply those skills on their own.
These materials would help third graders become fluent, and successful, readers!
